Safety Bear

Grades: Preschool- 1

The world can be a dangerous place for little ones who don’t know the safety rules. In this program, Safety Bear teaches children about ways to stay safe at home, at school and at play. Children play the Medicine Chest game, practice dialing 9-1-1, and learn to spot potential danger signs. The importance of wearing helmets and seat belts will also be discussed.

OBJECTIVES:

At the completion of the program the student will:

  1. Define safety
  2. Name two ways to keep safe
  3. Define a stranger as someone you don't know
  4. Name two reasons why not to take medicine by themselves

I'm Some "BODY"

Grade: K-1

fEvery ‘body’ is special, unique, and important. This interactive program emphasizes the need to keep the special body healthy by teaching the basics of rest, exercise, good nutrition, and dental hygiene. Children will interact with our puppet friends, and meet Sheriff Tuffy Tooth!  Students will also participate in a glitter activity to demonstrate how germs are spread.

At the completion of the program the student will:

  1. Identify the four healthy habits.
  2. Name two basic body organs.
  3. Name three healthy food choices.
  4. Explain one way to reduce germs on the body.
  5. Demonstrate the proper way to brush teeth.

HealthSmart!

Grades: 2-3

During this interactive program, children will meet Charlie Chan the Bony Man, who helps kids become “Body Smart”. Students will learn the location and function of the five senses. The food pyramid will reinforce healthy eating habits. In addition, children will have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session with Sheriff Tuffy Tooth, discuss personal safety with an emphasis on Stranger Danger during an interactive student role play.

  2. Name the five senses
  3. Identify three food groups
  4. Name two ways to remain safe
  5. Describe two characteristics of oral hygiene

"The Bod Squad"

Grades: 3-4

Bod SquadStudents will learn about the body’s cells and explore the functions of the digestive system.  Students will follow the path of food through the digestive system during this exciting interactive presentation and witness the process of human digestion through the “grossology” lab demonstration.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Name the 4 organs of the digestive system and their functions.
  2. List the 6 key nutrients
  3. Name 1 healthy food choice per nutrient
  4. List 2 parts of a cell

Incredible Machine

Grade: 4

Incredible MachineThe human body is an incredible machine, performing thousands of tasks an hour without a single conscious command. To understand this, fourth graders study the workings of the nervous system, path of digestive system, muscle system groups, and the heart and circulatory system. Huge models of cells, an oscilloscope and monitor, and a life-size mannequin illustrate the intricate workings of the body and help to show how to care for it. Program length: 60 minutes.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Identify different types of cells (ciliated cell, goblet mucous cell, red blood cell, striated muscle cell, nerve cell).
  2. Explain the function of the circulatory system.
  3. Name the three components of blood
  4. List three signs of a heart attack
 

SunWise

Grade: 3-5

Incredible Machine SunWise is a health education program that aims to teach children, grades 3-5, how to protect themselves from overexposure to the sun. Through the use of a high definition multimedia presentation and through school and community based programming, SunWise seeks to develop sustained sun-safe behaviors in school children and their families. Our main goal is to potentially lower skin cancer rates in child and adults in southwest Florida..
