Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

[ open ]
1. I attended EVO (Eagle View Orientation) and was told I would get an email from MSB afterwards with instructions and information. Why haven’t I gotten that email yet?

Were you admitted to Florida Gulf Coast University for Summer 2013, and started FGCU with summer classes? If so, you are exempt from this MSB requirement. For this year only, the MSB requirement only applies to those students who were admitted for Fall 2013. This means you do not have to complete and pass the “Essentials Course” of MSB to register for your next semester of classes, and you do not have an “EC” (Essentials Course) hold on your account. There is nothing you need to do and you should be able to register for your next semester of classes without any issues.

You probably heard about this requirement during your EVO (Eagle View Orientation). We appreciate your attention to what was covered in your sessions. We had the EVO staff deliver the same message about MSB for each session, but the first few sessions contained students who were both admits for Summer 2013 as well as Fall 2013, so we apologize for any confusion. As this is the first year we are implementing MSB as a requirement, there are some hiccups as we got started, so we appreciate your patience.

We invite you to still check out MSB for wellness information relevant to college students. Please use the school code “fgcueagles” when registering on MSB to create your account.

2. I’m an in-coming freshman under 21 required to pass the “Essentials Course” before I can register for next semester. Can I just use my personal email address to get started?

Please do not use your personal email address to complete the course—you have already been pre-registered by the university to take this course and must use your Eagle Mail address to access it, and you do not receive your Eagle Mail information until EVO (Eagle View Orientation). If you use your personal email address to complete the course, you run the risk of a delay in your hold being removed, which can also delay your ability to register for your next semester of classes.

3. I was asked to take the “Essentials Course” by a campus administrator, but I already completed and passed it. Or, I am not an in-coming freshman under 21 and am being asked to take the “Essentials Course”—how do I get started?

If you have already passed the “Essentials Course,” but are asked to take it again later in your college career

Please let your administrator know you have already passed this course, and ask him/her if you should email the certificate as proof or if you should print it and turn it in for verification. If you forgot how to access your certificate, please see #6 under the "Completion" section of the FAQs. Your administrator will then decide if this will suffice or if not, what other task they might ask you to complete.

If you are NOT an in-coming freshman under 21 and are being asked to take the "Essentials Course"

Please ask the campus department, organization, or administrator that is requesting you to complete this for your specific instructions. Your assignment comes with a specific deadline and means of providing the completion certification, which is determined by your administrator. This administrator will have tailored instructions to share with you.

Faculty/Staff

Faculty/Staff: If you are interested in utilizing the "Essentials Course" for your group, please email msb@fgcu.edu.

Faculty/Staff and Parents

If you wish to view MSB, please email msb@fgcu.edu for your school code for access. Faculty/staff and parents each have a different school code than students to access the site.

4. I have to take the “STUDENT CONDUCT” of MSB—what are my instructions?

If you are an FGCU student being asked to take the "Student Conduct Course" of MSB

Please ask the campus department, organization, or administrator that is requesting you to complete this for your specific instructions. Your assignment comes with a specific deadline and means of providing the completion certification, which is determined by your administrator. This administrator will have tailored instructions to share with you.

Faculty/Staff

Faculty/Staff: If you are interested in utilizing the "Student Conduct Course" for your group, please email msb@fgcu.edu.

Faculty/Staff and Parents

If you wish to view MSB, please email msb@fgcu.edu for your school code for access. Faculty/staff and parents each have a different school code than students to access the site.

5. How do I know if I’m required to take the MyStudentBody Essentials Course?

You are required by Florida Gulf Coast University to take the Essentials Course if you are an in-coming freshman under 21. These students must complete and pass the course before they can register for their next semester of classes.

If you are not an in-coming freshman under 21 and you have been required to take the Essentials Course, or the Student Conduct Course, of MyStudentBody.com by a specific school administrator for a department, class, or organization, please speak to that staff member directly for your instructions, which will be different than what is published here for FGCU in-coming freshmen under 21.

6. What is the school code?

If you are an in-coming freshman under 21 taking the "Essentials Course" to have your hold removed to register for your next semester of classes, you should not use a school code. You have already been registered by the university for MSB. Please see the Login Instructions for how you are to begin the "Essentials Course." If you use the school code to complete the course, you run the risk of a delay in your hold being removed, which can also delay your ability to register for your next semester of classes.

If you are not an in-coming freshman under 21 and are asked to take the "Essentials Course," or if you are an FGCU student being asked to take the "Student Conduct Course" of MSB, you should use the Student School Code: fgcueagles

There are separate school codes for faculty/staff as well as parents. If you belong to one of those groups and wish to view the website, please email msb@fgcu.edu for that information.

7. The site requires I enter my Social Security Number. I am an international student and do not have a Social Security Number. What should I enter in that space to complete the information?

There's a little "?" icon next to this area which explains that you can use any memorable 4 digit number if you do not have a SSN. Some ideas could include the last 4 digits of your cell phone number, passport or visa control number, lucky number, etc. This number would be used later to confirm your identity if you need a password reset, so please make sure it is a number you will remember.

1. I am a returning user and have forgotten my username and/or password. Help!

If you think you know your username, then click the "Forgot" link under the password box. You'll be prompted to enter your email address in another box to have a link sent for re-setting your password. Make sure to enter the email address you used when you registered for MyStudentBody, which should have been your Eagle Mail email address.

2. I'm a returning user, but the system reports I don't have an account. When I try to set up an account with my FGCU Eagle Mail again, it says that UserID is already taken. How can I access my account without having to take the course over again?

Please contact techsupport@mystudentbody.com and explain your situation. You should receive a response by the next business day with a temporary password to get back into your account. Once you've accessed your account, please create a new password.

3. On the Registration page, I've filled out my information, but the box to click for Terms of Use won't let me click it. What's going on?

The box will not be accessible to you until you've opened the link for Terms of Use. This is to help ensure that users read the agreement before clicking the box. After you've opened the Terms of Use and closed it, you should be able to click the box and move on.

4. I am taking the Essentials Course, and I've received a pop-up page that says "Page Cannot Be Displayed." Why is this happening?

If you see the "page cannot be displayed" message, then hit the "refresh" button on your browser. If you continue to get this message, then click the "Logout" button, close your browser completely, reopen it, and log back in. MSB will direct you to where you stopped the course. If the problem persists, please contact Technical Support (techsupport@mystudentbody.com).

5. I can’t seem to see any tools or peer stories. Can you help?

A browser plug-in is required to view the (Flash) tools and animated peer stories. If you cannot see any tools or peer stories, you probably do not have this plug-in installed on your computer. You can download the "Macromedia Shockwave Player" for free by using the link at the bottom of any MSB page or by visiting the following URL: www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download.

6. Why can’t I view bar graphs in the Rate Myself reports?

If you are unable to view the bar graphs in the Rate Myself risk assessment reports or in the MSB-Data Reports area, then you should first go to “Internet Options” on your browser menu (Advanced Tab) and make sure “javascript” and “Java Applets” are enabled (checkmark is on).

If you are still unable to see the graphs, this may be because a small number of browser versions do not have the Java plug-in, or are not set to use it. Get the free plug-in by visiting www.java.com.

7. After passing the post-quiz, I was unable to view the certificate of completion. I saw an error page instead. Why?

Remember, you are not required to print or email your certificate to remove your hold. Your hold should be automatically removed. However, if you wish to view/use your certificate and if you get an error message when you are trying to print it, then hit the back button and click refresh on your browser. If you still get an error message, then click the Logout button, close your browser completely, reopen it, and log back in. MSB should direct you to the point at which you stopped the course. If for some reason you are taken back to your homepage, click on the option you are given under "ESSENTIALS". It should say "view certificate" or take you to your course already in progress.

8. My sound doesn’t work. How do I fix it?

You should first check your computer to make sure your speakers are correctly hooked up and turned on. Turn your speakers up to a volume that is comfortable for you, and re-start the segment that uses sounds. If you are visiting MSB from a public place like a computer lab, you may want to use headphones to listen to the audio segments.

9. I am trying to complete a MyStudentBody Essentials Course. I have read all of the articles and strategies, and a checkmark appears by each one, yet I can’t seem to move on to the next section. What do I need to do?

Once you have completed your review of all the course materials, you will be automatically transitioned to the next screen. Take a second to run through the lists of ARTICLES, STRATEGIES and TOOLS. Make sure each item includes a visible checkmark in the box next to it. If not, then complete the areas that have not been checked. To complete each ARTICLE or STRATEGY, you must select the “Continue” button at the bottom of the page. Using the back button will NOT register the piece as completed. Items listed in the TOOLS section considered completed when the pop-up window is closed.

If a checkmark appears next to each of the ARTICLES, STRATEGIES and TOOLS, and you are convinced that you have read all course content, but you are still stuck, try the following: Use the Logout button in the upper right corner of the page to log out of the course. Close your browser completely, re-open it, and log back in. You will return to the place in the course where you last left off, and should be able to proceed to the post knowledge quiz. It may also help to try a different browser if the problem persists.

10. I am working with a MAC and am unable to print the certificate. Why?

As long as the certificate appears on your web browser, you can use the browser's built-in "Print" command to print the web page instead of using the link on the page itself. If you cannot print your web pages using the browser's built-in print function, then the problem is a larger software or hardware issue. Email MSB's technical support department at techsupport@mystudentbody.com. Remember though, you are not required to print or email your certificate to remove your hold. Your hold should be automatically removed.

11. I don’t have a printer, so I can’t print the certificate of completion. I tried to print my certificate on a friend’s computer, but it didn’t work.

Remember, you are not required to print the certificate after completion in order to have your hold removed. The hold is automatically removed within 24 hours. However, if you would like to print your certificate for your own reference or need to print it and are having problems, here are some tips.

JavaScript must be enabled on your browser in order to print the certificate of completion. If you do not have a printer, cannot change your browser settings, or find a computer that will print the certificate, you may use the online form to e-mail the certificate to yourself.

If you have passed the Essentials Course and are still seeing a hold on your account after 24 hours, you may print the certificate and bring it into Prevention & Wellness, right-hand side of the Wellness Center, or email it to msb@fgcu.edu.  Email will only be answered during regular Prevention & Wellness business hours.

Holds

[ open ]
1. When is the hold on my account removed after I’ve taken the Essentials Course?

The hold on your account will be automatically removed within 24 hours of you completing and passing the Essentials Course.

[ open ]
2. I've passed the MSB Essentials Course for FGCU, but there is still a hold on my account. What’s going on?

Check your certificate to ensure that you passed the ESSENTIALS Course. If you did not take all three modules of the ESSENTIALS course (Alcohol, Drugs and Sexual Violence), it is not considered complete. If your certificate says STUDENT CONDUCT Course, you took the wrong one, as that is only for people who have policy violations.

Check to ensure that you passed each module with a 70% score or higher.

Check to make sure you registered using your FGCU-issued email address (your eagle mail). This is how the FGCU registrar's office can recognize your completion, and therefore remove your hold.

If you have just taken the course, please allow up to 24 hours for hold removal.

If you have taken all three modules of the ESSENTIALS Course and completed them with a 70% or higher, but still see a hold on your account, please bring your certificate to Prevention & Wellness, right-hand side of the Wellness Center, so that we may remove your hold. You may also email your certificate to msb@fgcu.edu and inquire about your hold being removed, but email will only be answered during Prevention & Wellness business hours.

Completion

[ open ]
1. How do I know if I’ve passed the MSB Essentials Course?

The Essentials Course is three modules: Alcohol, Drugs and Sexual Violence. If you’ve passed (achieved a 70% or higher on each module), you will be directed to a certificate of completion for the entire course and your hold will be automatically removed without you having to do anything.

2. I finished taking MyStudentBody Essentials Course, but I failed to pass the post quiz for one of the modules. What should I do?

You will need to retake the course module, carefully reading the articles and strategies. You must obtain a passing score of at least 70% on the post-quiz. If you have used up your allotted attempts to take the course and need more, please contact msb@fgcu.edu to ask for more to be added. Please give your UserID, first name, and last name so that your account can be found in the system. Please note that while more attempts at the course can be added for you, a hold will remain on your account until you pass the course, so it is in your best interest to pass the course on the first attempt. Most students are able to do this without much issue.

[ open ]
3. What should I do with my certificate of completion?

You do not have to do anything with the Certificate of Completion for your hold to be removed. Your hold will automatically be removed within 24 hours of you completing and passing the course. However, you can print or email the certificate at a later time if you wish.  If you have completed and passed the course and are still seeing a hold on your account, you may bring your certificate to Prevention & Wellness, right-hand side of the Wellness Center, or email it to msb@fgcu.edu and someone will follow-up with you.

If you are not an in-coming freshman under 21 and are completing either the Essentials Course or Student Conduct Course for a university administrator, department or organization, please speak to them for instructions regarding your Certificate of Completion.

[ open ]
4. When do I have to complete this by and what do I have to do?

All in-coming freshmen under 21 must complete and pass the Essentials Course with at least 70% proficiency in order to register for their next semester of classes. Students are encouraged to complete the course as soon as possible to avoid problems with registration. All communication about this requirement has been sent to your Eagle Mail. You may also find information at www.fgcu.edu/mystudentbody for instructions on what you have to do to complete this requirement.

If you are not an in-coming freshman under 21 and are being asked to complete either the Essentials Course or Student Conduct Course, please see your university administrator for deadline information and instructions.

5. My course completion certificate reports that I “DID NOT PASS” the course. What should I do?

If the Login Instructions are not clear, please email msb@fgcu.edu or come into Prevention & Wellness, right-hand side of the Wellness Center. You may be instructed to review the materials and take the quiz again until you have passed. If you have already chosen to move forward in the program with a non-passing certificate, you will have the option to return to the course materials from the certificate page. See related question below for instructions on how to return to the certificate page. Your hold will not be removed unless you pass the course.

[ open ]
6. I have already completed the MyStudentBody Essentials Course. How do I return to the certificate page to prove that I have completed the course?

Click on the Essentials Course icon to advance to the MyStudentBody homepage.

From the MyStudentBody homepage, click "Courses: Required to be HERE?" on the bottom left side of the page. You will advance to the course entry page with a list of MyStudentBody courses.

"View Certificate" will appear next to the course(s) that you have already completed. You will advance directly to a page that allows you to print or email your certificate.

Please note: If you have earned a non-passing certificate and you have been instructed to pass the course by a school administrator, you will have the option of returning to the course materials from the certificate page (an additional selection in the box that says "Print/Email Certificate").
