Undergraduate Objective
Achieve accreditation-state, national and by program where =
possible
Prepare for Florida Department of Education site visit next =
fall.=C2=A0 All Benchmark assignments are posted in Live Text and we can =
now collect data on student achievement.=C2=A0 Lois Christensen has =
developed matrices sowing alignment of objectives, benchmark =
assignments, state and national standards, and FEAPs.=C2=A0 Faculty have =
collected artifacts and submitted information to be used in writing the =
narrative.=C2=A0 Several narrative drafts are completed.=C2=A0 We are =
scheduled for the DOE visit October 1-4, 2006.

Goal 2:=C2=A0 The Student Community
Undergraduate Objective
Increase enrollment/increase degree production
The Project Succeed Grant has increased our enrollment in secondary =
education and in the education minor.
Refine existing programs and develop new programs/initiatives to =
meet identified needs.
=C2=A0
Based on the alignment of course syllabi with state and national =
standards, the Early Childhood Program was revised so that students now =
take a course in math methods.
=C2=A0
Agreements were signed with our five counties so that final paid =
internships could be offered to our students.=C2=A0 Eight seniors =
participated in the program during the spring 2006 term.
=C2=A0
Manage enrollment growth through effective pedagogy and delivery =
systems.=C2=A0 Core undergraduate courses had higher caps.=C2=A0 All =
faculty developed goals in their PDPs related to managing larger =
classes.=C2=A0 Faculty are developing on-line sections for the education =
minor.=C2=A0 Discussions are underway to develop hybrid courses for =
Block 1 content.

11 undergraduate courses being developed for on-line delivery =
beginning Fall, 2007.

We have added more classes on weekends (Friday and Saturday =
combinations) as well as Saturdays, to attract working =
professionals.

We have asked all graduate programs to identify courses that can be =
delivered online.

An online Reading Endorsement package has been developed and all =
courses in the endorsement are now available online.=C2=A0 Through a =
planned sequence of courses, students can obtain the reading endorsement =
over three semesters.

ESOL Endorsement classes have been developed; first ESOL =
endorsement class was offered online in Spring 2006; next courses to be =
offered in Fall 2006.

Online endorsements as well as Curriculum and Instruction Master's =
Degree in Educational Technology were marketed at FETC-Florida Education =
Technology Conference-Orlando, FL, March 22-24, 2006.
=C2=A0
FETC is one of the largest, most successful conferences in the =
United States devsoted to educational technology.=C2=A0 It annually =
attracts 8,000-12,000 educators from Florida and around the world.=C2=A0 =
One of the highlights of the conference is its 275,000 square feet of =
exhibit space.=C2=A0 41% of 2005 conference attendees were K-12 =
administrators, computer coordinators, media specialists, MIS/IT =
directors and other non-classroom; 47% were K-12 classroom =
teachers.=C2=A0 Thus, 88% of the attendees were people who would be =
directly interested in our graduate programs, and they are people with =
an interest in technology.=C2=A0 In addition, supporting organizations =
include Florida Department of Education, Florida Association for =
Computers in Education, Florida Association of Educational Data Systems, =
Florida Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Florida =
Association for Media in Education, and Florida council of Instructional =
Technology Leaders, all of which have considerable interest in online =
programs an course delivery systems.

effective delivery of capstone seminars resulting in high quality =
student projects.

A course in Inquiry Skills and Assessment Methods has been added to =
the Curriculum and Instruction Masters programs beginning in Fall 2006 =
catalog.=C2=A0 This change is the result of a recommendation of a =
C&I task force study group.=C2=A0 The purpose of this =
research-focused course is to better prepare students for their capstone =
project.
=C2=A0
The Elementary M.A. program has further developed guidelines for =
the Practicum, which occurs generally in the student's final =
semester.=C2=A0 Work on this program is ongoing.

In Spring 2005, Graduate programs developed assessment tools to =
asses the program effectiveness.=C2=A0 Currently, programs are =
conducting surveys of this year's capstone students in order to revisit =
program effectiveness.=C2=A0 Data will be analyzed and used for program =
improvement.

Graduating students were surveyed regarding their preparation to meet =
the FEAPs along with the undergraduate student learning goal of =
diversity.=C2=A0 This survey was also taken in spring 2006.=C2=A0 During =
the summer of 2005, faculty met to review the data and make =
recommendations regarding diversity.=C2=A0 Suggestions were incorporated =
into courses during this academic year.

We anticipate that the consortium will =
lead to better information exchanges between districts and the =
university, thus allowing the COE to be responsive to district =
needs.=C2=A0 Strategies to make various proposals such as the Faculty =
Fellows Program may have a better chance of coming to fruition.=C2=A0 =
Additional grants may result in dollars to develop and enhance our =
programs to meet the educational needs in our service delivery =
area.=C2=A0 We anticipate that better relations and communication plans =
will assist in the recruitment and retention of =
students.

Administrative Line:=C2=A0 Associate =
Dean position - $90,000 this would allow one =
administrative position to be filled from the outside without the =
current impact on faculty teaching load.=C2=A0 There is significant =
difficulty in finding qualified content area adjuncts in some areas to =
fill the void=C2=A0created when administrative positions are filled from =
within current teaching faculty. =C2=A0
A position for Marketing, Recruitment & =
Advising:=C2=A0$32,000 Marketing and diversity =
recruitment based on CACREP recommendation; university focus. Our goal =
for enrollment growth was not met last year at the graduate level. =
We=C2=A0 have not recruited the number of minority students we would =
like to have in our programs. CACREP reviewers wrote the following =
recommendation: " the program faculty must prepare and implement a =
written policy to recruit students representing a multicultural and =
diverse society.
2. Advising position based on the state mandate that =
we must have an ombudsman for certification seeking students; CACREP =
suggestion; enrollment growth at undergraduate level=C2=A0and the =
addition of the secondary undergraduate programs.
Based on an in-house assessment done fall 2004 we =
determined that the following services were not provided because of =
understaffing:
Recruitment:
1. PR material development was limited and less than =
in past years because of increased advising requirements from state law =
and FGCU offloading of registration duties.
2. Web recruitment is limited to undergraduate =
admissions. Worksheets need to be developed for graduate programs and =
for teacher certification (non-traditional).
3. Recruiting events are limited to local area and =
need to expand to more distant feeder markets and to rural areas.
4. Self-evaluation admission forms need to be =
developed for feeder schools other than Edison.
5. All Introduction to Education classes in the five =
county area should have recruiter presentations (currently Edison main =
campus once a year).
6. Identify and target graduate program markets.
Admissions:
1. Graduate program applications evaluated, put in =
data base, and filed.
2. Help facilitate graduate program =
orientations.
3. Probation needs to be documented for both graduate =
and undergraduate.
4. Data base info needed for graduate program =
students.
Program of Study:
1. Documentation of course substitutions for both =
undergraduate and graduate in the data base and for graduate in the =
student file.
2. Internship services for graduate students.
3. Financial aid options need to be developed for =
graduate students and expanded for undergraduates.

Tracking and Reporting:
1. No formal tracking or program satisfaction survey =
exists for undergraduate or graduate students other than reports =
generated by the state.
2. Alumni volunteers and referral sources need to be =
developed.
Position for =
Assessment:=C2=A0=C2=A0$ 46,000; As the =
College moves forward in meeting the assessment requirements for the =
Florida Department of Education, SACS, & NCATE it has become =
apparent we do not have the capacity to do the required work. Thus far, =
the work has been
accomplished through course buy-outs and the results =
have been a fragmented approach. In the spring a task force of faculty =
and administrators met to assess our progress in meeting assessment =
requirements. It was determined that our goal in this area was not met =
last year. The task force recommended establishment of dedicated =
position for the task of managing assessment data collection, =
aggregation, analysis, and reporting. In the CACREP exit report the =
following recommendation was made, " given the small return of =
follow-p evaluations from graduates and employer/supervisors, the =
faculty members are encouraged to explore
other means to increase the response rate". The =
response rate for the undergraduate employer satisfaction survey is also =
low.
Salary increase for field supervisors - =
currently paid $300 per student; adjunct pay is going up - =
supervisors have not had an increase in 9 years; would like to pay 350 =
per student
Refund the collaborative proposal to hire a =
minority faculty member from the school district and share the person's =
appointment; $15,000
