Publish a General Laboratory Safety =
Manual (GLSM) describing expectations for laboratories. Expand building =
inspections in laboratory spaces to include requirements of the GLSM, =
safe work practices, and hazardous waste =
regulations.

Publication of a GLSM with input from =
faculty responsible for laboratory operation. Training of staff to =
conduct the inspection=C2=A0and completion of two inspection rounds =
during FY 2006 - 2007.

Faculty acceptance of GLSM and =
completion of the first two inspections.

Publication of the GLSM and=C2=A0the =
process of the inspections will reinforce laboratory safety expectations =
on campus. Inspection results documenting laboratory compliance, and =
correction of any deficiencies, will better enable EH&S to re-assure =
faculty, staff, and students who in the past have expressed concerns =
about procedures in some campus laboratories.

Participate in the new employee =
orientation process through Human Resources to reach new faculty and =
staff.=C2=A0Work with the Student Government and Resident Housing =
Association to provide environmental sustainability orientation to =
incoming students. Expand EH&S website to include links to and in =
support of the Environmental Stewardship Advisory Council (ESAC) =
Environmental Stewardship Management Plan. Document sustainable design =
features in existing and new buildings on campus.

2005-2006?
$43,050 for department secretary to greet visitors, field phone =
calls, receive submittals from contractors, coordinate meetings and take =
minutes, follow-up on records requests, maintain the websites, manage =
the budgets, and maintain records files. . The department currently =
makes use of a secretary in the Administrative Services VP's office in =
another building across campus. A departmental secretary is needed to =
support the implementation of the ESAC Environmental Stewardship =
Management Plan,=C2=A0 receive contractor environmental=C2=A0 =
submittals, support the risk management duties and staff transferred to =
EH&S, and assist with the increased records requirements with the =
anticipated move to Small Quantity Generator Status in the coming year. =
=C2=A0
$13,00 for=C2=A0two additional golf carts=C2=A0needed as we often =
have=C2=A03 or 4=C2=A0people out on campus at a time, a 20 minute walk =
from our offices.=C2=A0Our existing cart is unreliable having =
spent=C2=A011 weeks during the last year being repaired.

$1,000 to buy a color laser printer needed to produce training =
handouts, promotional materials, and hazard warning signs.
=C2=A0
$600 for additional materials (paper, folders, toner, etc) for =
training and promotional handouts in support of new orientation programs =
and ESAC programs.

An additional $5,000 for hazardous waste disposal as volumes and =
unit costs continue to escalate. This increase is based on past growth =
rate and current unit costs.

$1,500 for message items (pens, cups, pins) for promoting =
environmental stewardship and safety among employees and students at =
orientations and other opportunities.

$160 for smoke generating tubes used for measuring laboratory hood =
and general ventilation air flow in buildings, and respirator =
fit-testing. =C2=A0
