The installation of upgraded podium control = systems throughout the University has allowed IT to remotely monitor = equipment and more immediately identify problem issues, allowing for = improved and more immediate service to course instructors and their = students. In addition, this new control system played a critical role in = identifying more accurately the use (and mis-use) of the integrated = components of the podium systems - enabling IT to develop methodologies = to upgrade critical equipment and better educate=C2=A0faculty and = students=C2=A0on appropriate use of classroom and event equipment. = Monitoring feedback from users of an existing system has allowed us = quickly evaluate product updates to determine if we should upgrade = current software or change direction and look at alternative = solutions.
Learned how RSS, blogging, Wiki's = and=C2=A0PodCasting are being used at colleges and universities to = provide new communication streams. Research will be conducted in = 2006-2007 to determine the wide spread use of the tools needed to = receive, subscribe,=C2=A0and view these new Web = communications=C2=A0forms.
