Unit Mission Statement

As a unit within Academic Affairs, the Office =
of the Registrar's mission is to provide a service-oriented environment =
to the campus and community. The purpose of the office is to establish =
and maintain student academic records, to provide enrollment information =
and access for students and the campus community, to coordinate and =
enforce university policies and procedures, and to provide =
administrative support throughout a student's academic career. In this =
role, the office is committed to providing efficient and quality support =
services to all students, alumni, faculty, staff and other members of =
the campus and community, while preserving the privacy and security of =
the records.

As part of Strategic Plan Goal 2, the =
Office of the Registrar (OR) will =C2=A0focus on campus needs and =
expectations. OR will assess the level of satisfaction to determine =
service components. |
The following assessment measures and criteria will be =
used by OR.
A.
Staff will log monthly statistics for the purpose =
of monitoring service levels and =C2=A0workload shifts.
B. =
Service-based projects
selected based on faculty and student =
surveys, state and/or federal requirements, or Banner enhancements. =
Projects are prioritized and implemented through the Student Data Group =
(SDG), Banner Coordinating Committee (BCC), and Information Systems. =

Monthly service logs will be =
analyzed and used to adjust service offerings or seek policy =
change.
B.
Service projects receiving prioritization for 2006-07 =
are:
1. EDI - electronic transmission of academic transcripts. =
Project selected for 06-07 implementation by Information Systems =
(IS)again after placed on hold due to technical resources within =
IS.
2. National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) - electronic process to =
feed enrollment data to federal government (NSLDS). Project began =
2005-06 but delayed due to technical resources.
3. ID Conversion and =
UIN/SSN Policy development - project supporting the migration from SSN =
usage for student and employee IDs to system generated ID numbers. =
Process will require new policy providing guidelines for use of UIN =
(University Identification Number) and SSN. This project is a =
university-wide project being coordinated through the Banner =
Coordinating Committee.
4. Additional projects in progress for this =
time period included improved graduation processing, improved e-mail =
communication, and improved website navigation. |

1) EDI - Implement out-bound =
transcript feed through the Texas Server by Spring 2007.
=C2=A0 =
=C2=A0 2) NSC - Implement Banner processes, complete testing, and =
establish parallel FTP feeds through NSC and NSLDS federal sites by =
Spring 2007 with fullly operational feeds to NSC by Summer =
2007.
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 3) ID Conversion and UIN/SSN Policy - project =
contains 2 separate phases. Phase 1 - Collaborate with campus members to =
develop and coordinate conversion of all student and employee. Develop =
policy to address use and secure issues surrounding UIN and SSN. =
Phase 2 - Implement SCT's Banner Fine Grain Security. This involves =
determining which offices/individuals must have view access to SSN in =
SPAPERS and which offices will have this information blocked. To be =
determined by Banner Coordinating Committee in conjunction with the =
Director of Human Resources, the University Registrar, and other campus =
personnel as identified.
4. All of these projects have progressed =
apace and are continuing as scheduled into the 2007-2008 =
year. |
