Institutional research at FGCU consists of data collection, analyses, reporting, and related staff work designed to facilitate operations and decision-making within the institution.

The office maintains a comprehensive data system that is used to generate reports for all constituencies of the university including: faculty, staff, the Board of Trustees, the Board of Governors, the Florida Legislature, the Federal Government, and the media. Institutional Research produces a quarterly report for the Board of Trustees that is a compendium of data concerning a wide range of university operations. IR also produces the CDS and serves as data administrator with the Board of Governors.
