Plan to Gradually Build Participation
  • Three Year Plan
  • 2001-2002 classes held in computer labs from one college
  • 2002-2003 Add all distance learning (dl) classes from a second college and allow all faculty to choose to use the online form
  • 2003-2004 Add all dl and classes held in PC classrooms from the rest of the university.
  • 2004-2005 Continue to promote Online SAI throughout the university.

Features
  • Will not allow a student to assess a class in which they are not registered.
  • Will not allow a student to assess a class more than one time.
  • Will allow a student to assess a class any time, day or night, during the SAI time-frame.
  • Will allow a student to assess classes from home.

Benefits to Faculty
  • Results from SAI will be available to faculty in substantially less time (5 days vs 8 weeks)
  • More secure than paper-pencil form
  • No missing data because students did not follow scan-sheet instructions.
  • Periodic email messages that allow faculty to monitor response rates and remind students.
  • Possibility that class time will not be needed in the future

  • Costs will be substantially reduced (clerical time, fewer paper copies needed)
  • Productivity increase with available tools
  • Because results will be available more quickly, opportunity to use the information in guiding the direction of the five colleges is increased
