Frequently Asked Questions 1. If I logon to Gulfline, how does my assessment remain anonymous? 2. Who reads the results of the Student Assessment of Instruction? 3. What are the results used for? 1. If I logon to Gulfline, how does my assessment remain anonymous? We do not save identifying information in the table that gathers the responses from the forms. Faculty do not have access to the database that gathers the responses. Our office is committed to respecting your anonymity. 2. Who reads the results of the Student Assessment of Instruction? There are two different reports generated from the results, a public report and a confidential report. A summary report of the first eight questions are public information and are distributed to the deans, who provide copies to faculty, chairs, and other appropriate persons. A copy of the results is provided to the the SGA, the Colleges, and a copy is placed in the FGCU library. Another summary report including the rest of the questions (9-27) the original survey forms are given to the instructors. They can share that information if they choose.
3. What are the results used for? The purpose of the SAI is to provide for student assessment of instruction using eight characteristics which will be common throughout the State University System, and to make the summary results available to students and the general public. The results are also to be used by the university as part of individual faculty evaluation. (read more, 6 page PDF) 4. After following the procedures that you emailed, I get an error message saying I am not enrolled in any classes offering online evaluation. How do I go about filling out one of these forms? There are two (2) possible causes for receiving this error message. First, is that you are trying to access the page during a time when SAI is not being administered. Second, the computer did not recognize when you chose the term. In this case you will need to try again, noting that the correct term is chosen from the drop down list before you submit the term. 5. I have a comment on the course evaluations .... I wish that they would have been available through the end of the semester. It is possible that the schedule may change
when a new policy is in place. We (at FGCU) do not define the schedule.
We work within a framework (rules) set at the state level. The state set
the policy that SAI (Student Assessment of Instruction) takes place, within 3 weeks of the end of the semester and not
during a class period when an exam is scheduled. So we do not (can not)
schedule SAI during final exam week.
