Florida Gulf Coast University offers certificate, certification, and continuing education experiences for the purpose of enhancing the knowledge or skills of participants, often for career development or acquisition of professional credentials.

Academic certificate programs consist of credit-bearing courses, and completion of such programs is noted on official FGCU transcripts. Professional certificate programs consist predominantly of non-credit coursework and may be taught by persons other than FGCU faculty.

Certification programs may include credit and non-credit coursework; the culminating credential is generally awarded by an entity or organization other than FGCU.
