The Learning Academy Reads Maya Angelou

Students in FGCU's learning community were assigned to read any book written by Maya Angelou over the Christmas Break. The week prior to Dr. Angelou's reading, students will form groups around the books they have read and develop formal presentations. They will discuss the theme and main points of the books, as well as key passages which will be read and explored in class.

Close analysis and reading, and preparation of group presentations, provided students a holistic understanding of Dr. Angelou's works.

The University Lecture Series is an initiative of Dr. Bonnie Yegidis, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. The inaugural lecture is free and open to the public.
