FGCU to Host Demonstration of METI Human Patient Simulator
8/15/2001

Health care industry professionals, the general public, students and faculty are invited to visit a demonstration of METI’s Human Patient Simulator mobile van from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10 at Florida Gulf Coast University in Parking Lot #5.

Human Patient Simulators provide hands-on, interactive training experiences for health care personnel, students and staff via demonstrations, simulations and re-enactments of actual events from accident scenes to operating rooms. The computer module is capable of emulating men, women and children, and conditions such as young or old age, good or poor health, and even pregnancy.

Each life-size mannequin breathes and has a pulse. It has sophisticated models of physiology and pharmacology that simulate human responses, even reactions to intravenous medications, CPR, defibrillation, ventilation, catheterization and other procedures.

FGCU is an accredited comprehensive public university created to address the higher educational needs of Southwest Florida and is dedicated to providing a learning-centered environment that offers high quality educational opportunities. Through FGCU’s top-notch educational programs and outstanding faculty members, students have access to an excellent array of learning and information resources, such as the Human Patient Simulator.

For more information, contact Carol E. Davis, Director of the School of Nursing, at (941) 590-7505 or cdavis@fgcu.edu.

Or contact Medical Education Technologies Inc., which manufactures the Human Patient Simulator, at www.meti.com.
