FGCU and CLI Offer Four-Day Wall Street Adventure to the Public
Florida Gulf Coast University and the Center for Leadership and Innovation (CLI) are offering to the public a personal view to the inner workings of Wall Street’s financial markets through The Wall Street Academy. Mike Buscemi, a former gold trader and Coordinator of the CLI’s Market Education, will host the program.
FGCU and the CLI are offering the Tuesday-through-Friday guided program, “A Day in the Life of a Trader,” each month starting in October. Participants will get an insider’s view of Wall Street from the trading floors in New York City. The program includes the mechanics of trading, such as futures, options, and bidding and selling in an open outcry environment; overviews of specific markets, such as energy, orange juice, cotton, gold and dollar index; overviews of stock transactions; and discussions with traders.
On the first day of the program, trip participants will meet at the CLI in Bonita Springs for a morning introduction and overview before departing to New York City and Wall Street. The first evening in New York City is a free evening for the participants.
The next two days are filled with visits to the opening and closing of various markets, including the gold, cotton, energy and commodity markets, along with the New York Stock Exchange. Participants will visit the trading floors of the New York Stock Exchange, New York Mercantile Exchange and the New York Board of Trade – truly an insider’s view of the financial markets.
Thursday evening is also free for participants to enjoy the many options that New York City has to offer. Friday after breakfast and a presentation of certificates, the group departs for Fort Myers.
Groups, such as community associations and professional organizations, are encouraged to take advantage of this offering. Participants can earn one continuing education credit.
