FGCU Nursing Students Win State Award for Third Consecutive Year
FORT MYERS, FL - Students in Florida Gulf Coast University’s Nursing Student Association once again proved their collective talent when the group won the state Community Health Award in November from the Florida Nursing Student Association for the third consecutive year. In addition, the student nurses merited an award for increased membership.
“Congratulations are in order once again to our NSA,” FGCU School of Nursing instructor and student alumni relations coordinator, Beth Murray, said. “The students compete against all universities and community colleges in the State of Florida. I think this is quite noteworthy since our program is only four and half years old. They really are a great bunch.”
The Community Health Award recognizes NSAs whose contributions to nursing and community health greatly benefit the public. The FNSA presented the award to FGCU students in Tampa during its state convention.
NSAs are members of the FNSA, a constituent of the National Nursing Student Association. The organization’s purpose is to help prepare nursing students for professional responsibilities, assist in development of the student as a whole person and that person’s responsibility for healthcare, and provide programs that represent fundamental and current professional concerns.
