Florida Gulf Coast University Hosts Private Equity Forum Jan. 8
FORT MYERS, FL - Leading executives from top technology companies and proven venture capital investors will headline a private equity forum hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Naples.
The half-day event will focus on how former corporate executives can leverage both their prior professional experience and personal capital to better participate in Florida’s emerging technology enterprises. Former Senator Connie Mack Sr. (R-Fl.), will introduce the event’s participants.
Retired president of Hewlett-Packard’s Imaging and Printing System, Carolyn Ticknor, will follow his remarks. She will discuss how she leveraged her corporate experiences to help emerging technology companies.
Executive vice president of Cisco Systems, Ron Willis, will deliver closing remarks “The Next Chapter in the 30-Year Evolution of Wireless Technologies.”
Several focus panels will provide a forum for discussing how individuals can invest time, talent and capital at various stages in a company’s lifecycle, from idea to successful business. Subjects to be addressed include “How to Intelligently Invest Your Time” and “How to Smartly Invest your Capital,” as well as an overview of the lifecycle of company development from angel, early and seed stage financing, to mid-late stage investing to M&A or IPO.
“Florida has a both a wealth of emerging technology companies along with a significant talent base of retired executives. Figuring out how to unlock Florida’s treasure trove of talent will be critical if Florida is to become a true generator of high tech businesses,” explained FGCU dean of the College of Business, Richard Pegnetter. “This forum brings together world class executives from the Naples area and gives them some insight into how best to help new companies. The forum will give high caliber leaders from the corporate world an opportunity to discuss how they can participate in Florida’s emerging economy in a very real, hands-on way. We hope all of our guests will walk away with a half-dozen very concrete action items.”
Forum speakers include president and chief strategist of Cenetec, Scott Adams; partner at Cox and Nici, Joe Cox; principal at Inflexion Partners, Dan Rua; founders of Fairview Advisors, Elliott H. Singer and Tom Wajnert; vice president of Innovation Capital, Michael Rypl; and managing director of SI Ventures, Manny Fernandez.
The cost of the event is $300 per attendee. The net proceeds from the event will benefit the Florida Gulf Coast University Center for Leadership and Innovation in the College of Business.
