"Emotional Intelligence-EQ" Workshop Offered by FGCU Florida Institute of Government
FORT MYERS, FL - Managers and employees from both the private and public sectors are invited to attend a half-day course “Emotional Intelligence - EQ” presented by the Florida Institute of Government at Florida Gulf Coast University as part of the its Workforce Development Series from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, April 18. The course will be held at the Center for Professional Development at Edison Community College.
The workplace of today is much different than the one of the past. Much more emphasis is placed on the importance of relationship building, both internally and externally, in successful organizations. Participants will learn concepts to become managers that are more effective.
· Discuss the seven categories of emotions
· Be more intentional in your actions
· Listen to emotions for better decision making
· Use energy and enthusiasm to motivate others
· Define emotional intelligence and reasons why it is important to success
· Care and build trust by displaying sensitivity and concern
· Recognize the five competencies which build your EQ level
Geri McArdle is instructor for the program. She is director of doctoral programs at Barry University and has extensive experience in designing and delivering training programs. She has worked for both the public and private sector and is currently a consultant and owner of her own business, Training Systems Institute. McArdle earned her doctorate degree from Syracuse University and participated in a leadership exchange program at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She has several publications in the areas of instructional design, analysis and training delivery.
The central purpose of the Institute is to help promote superior performance in government and nonprofit organizations through quality training, consulting and technical assistance.
