Governor Appoints Greene to State Commission on Community Service
FORT MYERS, FL - Gov. Jeb Bush announced that head of the Division of Teacher Education and professor at Florida Gulf Coast University, Marci Greene, is appointed to serve as one of 15 to 25 bipartisan members of Volunteer Florida! the Florida Commission on Community Service. The commission began in 1994.
Greene earned a Doctorate of Education in special education with a minor in early childhood education from Texas Tech University.
She also holds a Master of Education in learning disabilities from Wichita State University in Kansas, a Bachelor of Science in child development and family relations and elementary education from South Dakota State University, an Educational Leadership Endorsement from the University of South Florida, and an Administrative Certificate for Principals from the University of Oregon.
Published nationally several times in journals, magazines and textbooks, Greene co-authored a biweekly column for the News-Press from 1995 to 1997.
At FGCU, Greene teaches special education in the areas of inclusion, families and disabilities, and collaborative consultation.
The mission of the Florida Commission on Community Service is to strengthen communities through volunteer service. In carrying out the mission, the commission collaborates with community-based organizations, nonprofits, businesses, communities of faith, government entities and colleges and universities.
