Renaissance Academy Offers Writer's Workshop

FORT MYERS, FL - Instructors Elaine Ely and Brigit Sparling lead the four-part course “Writer’s Workshop: Importance of Advancing Creative Thinking” offered by Florida Gulf Coast University’s Renaissance Academy at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning July 2.

The successful lecture and lab series examines how outstanding short story authors develop the basic elements of writing in their work. Participants will use discussions, personal experiences and insights to create their own original works. Writer’s Workshop: IMPACT will extend awareness and appreciation for literature, and create an atmosphere to unlock creative potential.

Course fee is $15 for Renaissance Academy members and $25 for others. The class meets on July 2, 9, 23 and 30.

FGCU created the Renaissance Academy on the premise that learning should never stop and that keeping the mind intellectually, creatively and culturally active fundamentally enhances the quality of life.

FGCU offers the Renaissance Academy, both on campus and at off-site locations, as part of the University’s commitment to serving the region.
