Summer Series, Field Trip Illustrate Marine Life in Southwest Florida
FORT MYERS, FL - The Rookery Bay Reserve and Florida Gulf Coast University’s Renaissance Academy invite the public to attend “Marine Biology in Southwest Florida,” a four-part course offered at 6 p.m. on three Wednesdays beginning July 10 plus a three-hour field trip starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at the Rookery Bay Reserve.
Rookery Bay Reserve education specialist Stephen Theberge leads the series that will introduce marine mammals, sharks, rays, bony fishes, crabs, shrimp and their habitats. The field trip will allow participants to actually observe their findings in the real world.
The Rookery Bay Reserve is located at 300 Tower Road, one mile south of U.S. 41 off Collier Boulevard.
Course fee is $15 for Renaissance Academy members and $25 for others.
FGCU created the Renaissance Academy on the premise that learning should never stop and that keeping the mind intellectually, creatively and culturally active fundamentally enhances the quality of life.
As part of FGCU’s commitment to serving the Southwest Florida region, the Renaissance Academy offers courses both on campus and at off-site locations.
