Three Years Running: FGCU Tapped as Florida Inclusion Network Grant Recipient
FORT MYERS, FL - For the third straight year, the Florida Department of Education has approved the Florida Gulf Coast University College of Education as a recipient for the Florida Inclusion Network project award. The grant concludes June 30, 2003, and provides a $275,000 award.
Regional FIN facilitator Stan Weser, serving Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Lee and Monroe counties, is project coordinator at FGCU. FGCU professor of special education and division head for teacher education, Marci Greene is the principal investigator.
“FIN is a stellar organization and I am very proud that we have FIN on our campus. Our school districts benefit greatly as do FGCU education faculty,” Greene said.
According to the FIN web site,
Dean of the College of Education Larry Byrnes agrees. “FIN is an organization that provides critical outreach and support services throughout our region. I am pleased to have it associated with the College of Education.”
The FIN web site provides a list of recommended reading and offers a Directory of Services, including information on topics such as delivery methods that support inclusion, effective communication, student-centered classroom assessment, building positive learning communities and fostering natural supports.
