International Author Bruce Weigl Guest of Public Reading on March 21

FORT MYERS, FL - The public is invited to hear international award-winning author Bruce Weigl read from his work 11 a.m., Friday, March 21 in Whitaker Hall Room 101 at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Weigl’s work includes numerous works of literature and criticism, including his memoir of being a Vietnam veteran The Circle of Hanh (2000).

He has written 13 books of poetry including Song of Napalm (1991), Archeology of the Circle (2000) and most recently The Unraveling Strangeness (2002).

Weigl has also translated books of poetry from the Vietnamese, Romanian and Slovenian. He has been awarded the Pushcart Price twice and the Best American Poetry Prize as well as other national fellowships and awards.

The free reading is sponsored by the FGCU Renaissance Academy and College of Arts and Sciences.

A second free reading, sponsored by the Sanibel Public Library, the FGCU Renaissance Academy and the FGCU College of Arts and Sciences, is available to the public at 4 p.m. at the Sanibel Public Library on Sanibel Island.
