Artist Panel Open to the Public Concludes 25th Anniversary Exhibit in the FGCU Arts Complex Art Gallery
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University invites the public to attend an artist panel with Robert J. Sindelir, curator of the “Florida Visual Art Fellowships: 25th Anniversary Exhibition,” from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21 in 111 Arts Complex, followed by the exhibition’s closing reception.
The panel discussion featuring many of the exhibition’s contributing artists will provide an in-depth and provocative look at the Florida Visual Art Fellowships program, which recognizes professional working artists from all over the state of Florida.
The show highlights 24 fellowship recipients since the program’s inception and celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Florida Art Museum Directors Association.
Sindelir is the former Director of Galleries at Miami-Dade Community College. He took nearly two years to identify and contact all 317 Fellowship recipients, FAMDA says. From the 147 artists who responded to the call for slides, Sindelir selected artists whose work reflects the value and impact of the Fellowship on their work and careers.
The professional working artists featured, including Maria Brito of Miami, Lynn Davison of Naples, Theo Wujcik of Tampa and Richard Beckman of Temple Terrace, come from all over Florida and have received recognition from organizations such as the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim, Cintas, Ford and Tiffany foundations.
The FGCU Arts Complex art gallery is collaborating with the von Liebig Arts Center to simultaneously present the exhibit.
Admission to the FGCU Arts Complex art gallery is free. The gallery is open to the public Mondays through Fridays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding holidays observed by the University.
Participation, membership and volunteer opportunities are available.
