FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University will open for regular services to the public Thursday, August 19 at 8 a.m., according to President William C. Merwin. The University campus sustained only minimal damage with a few fallen trees and collected debris. The most critical problem was the loss of electrical power which was restored today, Tuesday, August 17.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Charley, all scheduled activities on the Florida Gulf Coast University campus have been re-scheduled to occur after Wednesday, August 18.
Eagle View Orientations have been rescheduled. Freshman students scheduled originally for orientation Thursday, August 12 and Monday August 16 should report for orientation Friday, August 20 at 8:30 a.m. to the Ballroom in the Student Union Building.
Transfer students registered for orientation Wednesday, August 18 are rescheduled for Thursday, August 19 and should report to the Ballroom of the Student Union Building at 8:30 a.m.
Florida Gulf Coast University Housing will open to accept students moving in Friday, August 20 beginning at 8 a.m.
The University will also be open Saturday, August 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to accommodate parents and students who need to access registration services, housing, and related services.
Fall semester classes will begin Monday, August 23 as originally scheduled. Registration will continue throughout the week of August 23 without penalty. Registration has been extended from August 30 through Sept. 4, but students registering that week will be assessed all late registration fees.
