FGCU Selects John Little of Naples as First Alumnus of Distinction Honoree
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University recently selected John Little of Naples as the recipient of FGCU's first Alumnus of Distinction award for his leadership, dedication and contributions to FGCU's alumni association.
FGCU vice president for Advancement Steve Magiera and director of Alumni Affairs Michele Yovanovich chose Little from more than 4,000 FGCU alumni. The award, which is the first of its kind for FGCU, will be given to deserving alumni who show outstanding enthusiasm, direction and commitment to FGCU, Yovanovich said.
Little earned a Master of Business Administration from FGCU in May 2003. He is chairman of the inaugural FGCU Alumni Association Board of Directors and is a member of the FGCU Foundation.
Little is a consultant and physician at the Neighborhood Health Clinic in Collier County. In addition to his FGCU degree, he holds a master's degree in neurosurgery from the University of Minnesota and a Medical Doctorate from the University of Saskatchewan.
During his medical career, he served as a fellow with both the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada and the American College of Surgeons. Little also was appointed as the Cleveland Clinic Foundation's director of neurosurgery training program and chairman of the department of neurosurgery.
Little has held leadership positions with numerous local and national organizations, including the American Heart Association, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Stroke Council, Collier County Medical Society and Southwest Florida Physicians Association.
