FGCU Hosts International Conference on Chinese Perspectives Feb. 25-26
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University hosts the international conference "Chinese Perspectives on Culture and Society" Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25-26 to share information about China's environment, education, economics and historical evolution.
"Our goal is to increase awareness of the global scope of education at FGCU. International issues affect us daily," associate professor of Justice Studies Pamella A. Seay said.
"It is our hope that this conference will inspire our students and the community to learn more about China and our cultural perspectives."
The FGCU College of Professional Studies sponsors the event in conjunction with the International Cultural Research Network at the University of Alberta in Canada. The organization promotes intellectual exchange of ideas through worldwide interaction and cooperation.
In addition to the conference, ICRN will publish a peer-reviewed journal of selected papers from the event later this year.
More than 25 presenters from around the world including the United States and FGCU are scheduled to participate in presentations. FGCU provost and vice president for Academic Affairs Bonnie Yegidis will open the conference and welcome attendees.
The conference takes place on Friday morning in the Whitaker Hall Sprint Room, and on Friday afternoon and Saturday in 249 Reed Hall.
Conference registration for both days is $225 and the one-day fee is $125 in advance. Admission for a single presentation is $15 for the public and is payable at the door.
