FGCU Student Nurses Honored with Five Awards, Three Offices at State Convention
FORT MYERS, FL - The Florida Nursing Students Association awarded students of the Florida Gulf Coast University School of Nursing chapter with several honors of distinction at the organization's state convention in Daytona Beach last week.
"I am so proud of our students and how they present themselves," assistant professor of nursing and NSA advisor Beth Murray said. "They are clearly a positive reflection on FGCU School of Nursing."
The FGCU chapter won five awards including, for the seventh year, the Community Health Award for most outstanding community health service project.
The chapter won the Activity Award for most activities in the past year, the Breakthrough to Nursing Award for the most successful recruitment project, the Breakthrough to Nursing Award for the most creative recruitment project and Honorable Mention in the Project category for most outstanding project depicting the convention's theme.
FNSA also elected three FGCU students to the state board. Jennifer Bagley is second vice president, Lauren Baptista is treasurer and Lori Baloun is director of Region 7.
Local NSA chapters are members of the FNSA, a constituent of the National Nursing Student Association. Students in the FGCU chapter compete against all universities and community colleges in the state of Florida. The organization's purpose is to help prepare nursing students for professional responsibilities, assist in development of the student as a whole person and that person's responsibility for healthcare, and provide programs that represent fundamental and current professional concerns.
