Karakas Appointed to Board Term with Southeastern College Art Conference
FORT MYERS, FL - The Southeastern College Art Conference last month appointed Florida Gulf Coast University art program leader and assistant professor Scott Karakas to serve a two-year term as Florida's representative on the Board of Directors at the 2005 annual meeting at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Founded in 1942, the Southeastern College Art Conference is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote the visual arts in higher education. SECAC facilitates cooperation and fosters on-going dialog about pertinent creative, scholarly and educational issues between teachers and administrators in universities, colleges, community colleges, professional art schools, and museums.
Although the organization represents the 12 states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, it has members from across the United State and abroad.
SECAC fulfills its purpose in part by sponsoring an annual fall conference that is hosted by an institution of higher learning. The conference provides members with a forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns relevant to the practice and study of art. The organization also publishes a newsletter and The SECAC Review, an annual refereed journal.
For more information, contact Karakas at (239) 590-7272 or email@example.com.
