FGCU Presents Third Annual Educational Symposium
on Consumer and Financial Issues Facing Senior Citizens
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University invites senior citizens, individuals who provide care or comfort to the elderly, and the general public to attend the free Third Annual Educational Symposium on Consumer and Financial Issues Facing Senior Citizens, 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 11 in the Student Union ballroom.
The free Symposium begins with continental breakfast at 7:45 a.m. and includes snacks and refreshments served throughout the morning.
Lecture topics include the Medicare Part D drug plan, identity theft, estate planning and Florida homestead law.
Keynote address is "Asset Allocation and Its Benefits" from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. with speaker Ron Gerdel, vice president and director of Evergreen Private Investment at Wachovia.
Three concurrent sessions follow the keynote address.
Dave Struble of Struble Financial Services presents "Declaring Florida Residency - The How and the Why." David T. Morgan, senior vice president at Raymond James and Associates Inc., presents "How to Select and Work with a Top Financial Advisor."
Lance McKinney, attorney with Osterhout and McKinney, presents "Estate Planning and Your Homestead - How Protected Are You?" James H. Applegate of Applegate Investment Management presents "The Prudent Portfolio: Investment Risk Management for Retirees."
Bret Hood, special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, presents "Consumer Fraud and Identity Theft." Britton Swank, attorney with Osterhout and McKinney, presents "Medicare Part D Program."
