Florida Small Business Development Center Establishes Small Business Resource Network at FGCU
1/24/2007

FORT MYERS, FL - The Florida Small Business Development Center recently announced the establishment of the Small Business Resource Network at Florida Gulf Coast University to help expand the area's small businesses.

The Small Business Resource Network, or SBRN, serves as a free information clearing-house to connect small businesses with the fee-for-service professional expertise needed to achieve business goals. Members of SBRN include companies that serve small businesses and experienced private-sector professionals in law, accounting, insurance, financing and all aspects of management, as well as non-profit organizations that specialize in small business assistance.

"Expanding this successful program at FGCU will provide our Small Business Development Center with another tool in our toolkit to help grow our area's small businesses, and the jobs that come with those growing businesses," regional director for FGCU Small Business Development Center Dan Regelski said. "It has proven itself at the University of North Florida."

Since its inception 14 years ago, the Small Business Resource Network assisted over 23,000 small businesses in North Florida. SBRN was awarded a grant by the Florida Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development to expand to other SBDCs statewide.

A special reception and meeting is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan 31 at the Small Business Development Center for professionals in law, accounting, insurance, financing and all aspects of management, as well as non-profit organizations that specialize in small business assistance. R.S.V.P. is required if interested in attending the event.

Firms interested in accessing SBRN services or joining as a service provider should visit www.sbrn.org.
