FGCU Appoints Steven Bloomberg as Executive Director of
Off Campus Programs and Continuing Education
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University announces the recent appointment of Steven Bloomberg to the position of executive director of Off Campus Programs and Continuing Education.
Bloomberg's career spans nearly 15 years of experience in workforce development, continuing education and economic development. He served as program director for Cerro Coso Community College in Ridgecrest, Calif., developing new workforce education programs for the college's five primary delivery sites.
He later accepted the position of dean of Workforce Development at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas. In addition, he was the lead figure in the construction of a 32,000 square foot emerging technology center, as well as a branch campus in an adjacent community.
Bloomberg recently completed four years of service as the CEO of the Borger Economic Development Corporation. His tenure as CEO was highlighted by the decision of a major petrochemical corporation to locate a new $90 million manufacturing facility in Borger.
"Steven comes to FGCU following a national search," said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Bonnie Yegidis. "With extensive knowledge in workforce development, outreach and economic development, Steven will lead a consolidated office that includes FGCU's outreach efforts in Charlotte County, Cape Coral, and Naples in addition to FGCU Renaissance Academy and Florida Institute of Government. He will work closely with the leaders and staff of these offices, as well as deans in expanding the breadth of credit-bearing and non-credit programs for residents of the University's service area."
Bloomberg earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from the University of LaVerne in California, and a Master of Education from West Texas A&M University.
