FGCU Bower School of Music Presents Holocaust Remembrance Concert April 1

FOR MYERS, FL - The Bower School of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University presents a Holocaust Remembrance Concert at the International Design Center in Estero, 3 p.m. Sunday, April 1.

This concert features Michael Baron, head of piano studies at FGCU, and professional musicians from Naples. Joining Baron in various chamber groupings are clarinetist Paul Votapek, violinist David Mastrangelo and cellist Thomas May.

Music written during the Holocaust as well as music of Jewish classical composers is performed. Composers represented include Bloch, Mendelssohn, Messiaen, Milhaud and Schoenfield.

Debra Hess, assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and faculty member in the Bower School of Music presents a special lecture on the Quartet for the End of Time.

This concert is an event connected with FGCU's proposed Center for the Study of Judaism, Holocaust and Human Rights.

No tickets are required for this event and admission is free.
