FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University invites the public to participate in "Issues and Answers: Property Tax Reform Unmasked," a public forum on property tax reform with local elected officials and other political leaders, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19 in the Student Union ballroom. An FGCU Capstone senior class organized the public forum.

FGCU professor Gary Jackson, director of FGCU's Regional Economic Research Institute, will provide an explanation of the existing property tax and the recently passed State constitutional amendment regarding property tax reform. The forum includes prepared statements and a debate between supporters and opponents of the proposed State constitutional amendment, approved by the Florida Legislature and Governor to be placed on the ballot for the upcoming new January primary election.

Panelists scheduled to present include State Rep. Trudy Williams, State Sen. Dave Aronberg, Lee County Property Appraiser Ken Wilkinson, Lee County Board Chairman Jeanne Dozier, Lee County Board of County Commissioners Chairman Bob James, Libertarian Party of Florida Treasurer Jack Tanner and a representative from a non-profit tax analysis organization.

The event's moderator is former editor-in-chief of FGCU's student newspaper, Eagle News, Richard Ritterbusch, who is also a Capstone class member.

For more information, media representatives should contact Ritterbusch at (941) 504-7161.
