"Colorado Piano Trio" to Perform at FGCU
1/23/2008

FORT MYERS, FL - The Bower School of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University presents the "Colorado Piano Trio" in concert 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, Feb. 5 in the Student Union ballroom. There is no charge for tickets, and the public is invited.

The Colorado Piano Trio was formed 10 years ago at the Crested Butte, Colorado Music Festival where three distinguished soloists joined forces to explore the rich piano trio repertoire. It has performed widely to critical acclaim. The concert at FGCU consists of a varied and entertaining program featuring music of Beethoven, Smetana, and Schoenfield.

Charles Stegeman, violinist, made his recital debut at an early age. He was accepted into the Curtis Institute of Music at 14 years old, received his bachelor's degree at age 20, and continued on in graduate studies at the Juilliard School. He is currently associate professor of Violin and Chairman of Strings at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Stegeman is also a visiting scholar at Azusa Pacific University in California.

Grace Bahng, cellist, was a scholarship student of Leonard Rose and Channing Robbins at the Juilliard School where she earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music. She was a member of the Blair String Quartet and associate professor of Music at Vanderbilt University from 1984 to 1999.

Michael Baron, pianist, performs extensively each season throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. Equally at home as a recitalist, a soloist with orchestra, and a chamber musician, Baron commands a diverse repertoire. Baron is currently associate professor of Music and Head of Piano Studies in the Bower School of Music at FGCU.

For more information, media representatives should contact founding director of Music Nancy Cobb-Lippens at (239) 590-7374.
