FGCU Receives Gift from Johnson Engineering, Inc. to Benefit Engineering Program
FORT MYERS, FL – Florida Gulf Coast University announced that Johnson Engineering, Inc. recently made a generous financial commitment to the FGCU Foundation to enhance Holmes Hall, the new home of the U.A. Whitaker School of Engineering.
In recognition of the gift, FGCU is pleased to name Johnson Engineering Lobby in Holmes Hall. The University will acknowledge the gift by displaying signage in the lobby of the facility.
“The Johnson Engineering donation is essential to building a first rate facility to house our dynamic engineering program,” said President Wilson Bradshaw. “To produce well-prepared students, we must have top quality facilities, and this gift helps to make that possible. We sincerely appreciate the continuing generous support of Johnson Engineering.”
FGCU Foundation will pursue matching funds from the Alec P. Courtelis Facilities Enhancement Challenge Grant Program, thereby doubling the value of the gift, which will be used to purchase scientific equipment for the new facility.
“Johnson Engineering is deeply rooted in Southwest Florida and we look to local graduates to continue our tradition of excellence in the community,” said Steve Morrison, president of Johnson Engineering. “Supporting FGCU, especially the engineering program, was an easy decision for us. Johnson Engineering Lobby is our latest effort to help create and attract the leaders of tomorrow.”
