FGCU School of Nursing Receives Florida Board of Nursing Approval
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University School of Nursing announces that it recently received approval from the Florida Board of Nursing for achieving an 89 percent first time pass rate through the third quarter of 2009 on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).
The Florida Board of Nursing lifted the probationary status it placed on the FGCU School of Nursing in April 2007. To be removed from probation, FGCU School of Nursing needed first time NCLEX-RN pass rates within 10 points of the national average of 86 percent. As of the end of the third quarter, 62 students have taken the NCLEX-RN this year.
"With the investments made in simulation, additional nursing laboratories, and faculty resources by FGCU and the dedicated work of the School of Nursing faculty, the FGCU Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is now very strong," said Marianne Rodgers, director for the School of Nursing.
NCLEX examinations are designed to test the knowledge, skills and abilities essential to the safe and effective practice of nursing at the entry-level.
FGCU School of Nursing also received notification from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), national accrediting agency for most baccalaureate and high degree nursing education programs, that FGCU has been granted the maximum 10-year full accreditation by CCNE for both the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs.
