FGCU College of Education Accepting Applications for Teacher Immersion Program

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University's Teacher Immersion Program in the College of Education is accepting applications for the Florida teacher certification program from individuals interested in becoming K-12 classroom teachers.

Candidates who hold a bachelor's degree in any subject area are encouraged to apply.

The Teacher Immersion Program (TIP), a state approved teacher preparation program, develops the candidate's knowledge and skill relative to classroom management, best instructional practices and literacy strategies for content areas as well as the psychology of learning and foundations of American education.

The program is a fast track pathway to Florida teacher certification, delivered via a teacher-friendly schedule of classes. It consists of six modules, three graduate classes (9 graduate credits), and an internship. Successful completion of TIP leads to the attainment of the Florida Professional Educator's Certificate in only four semesters. Grant funding of tuition is available to qualified applicants.

Application deadline for fall entry is July 1. To learn more about the program, visit the TIP website at

For more information, contact TIP coordinator Susan Kohler at (239) 590-7806.
