FGCU Announces New Officers, Members of Foundation Board
FORT MYERS, FL - The Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation Inc. announced its new slate of officers and incoming board members for 2010-2011 at its quarterly meeting Wednesday at FGCU.
Donald Lesch was named chairperson of the FGCU Foundation Board. Lesch is co-chairman of The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company. He has served on the FGCU Foundation Board since 2006. Lesch serves as chairman of the executive committee, represents the Foundation at public and social functions, and presides over all Foundation meetings.
James Knupp was named vice chairperson of the FGCU Foundation Board. Knupp is a founding partner of Ennis, Knupp & Associates, a privately held investment consulting firm. He has served on the FGCU Foundation Board since 2005. As the FGCU Foundation Board vice chairperson, he serves as chairman of the Development Committee.
Joseph Shepard was reelected as assistant treasurer of the FGCU Foundation Board. Shepard is vice president for Administration and Finance at FGCU.
John Fumagalli was named treasurer of the FGCU Foundation Board. Fumagalli is the President and CEO for the Southwest Florida region of Northern Trust. Fumagalli has served on the FGCU Foundation Board since 2007. As the FGCU Foundation Board treasurer, he serves as chairman of the Finance Committee.
Charles Winton was named secretary of the FGCU Foundation Board. Winton is the owner of Estero Bay Chevrolet. He has served on the FGCU Foundation Board since 2008.
Fay Biles was honored with the designation of Foundation Fellow.
Along with new officers, the FGCU Foundation Board also elected two new members to four-year terms. They are Jaynie Whitcomb, who served as a director in the telecommunications field for the last 22 years, and Paul Woods, founder and chairman of ALGENOL Biofuels.
In March, the FGCU Foundation Board also elected two new members to four-year terms. They are David Lucas, chairman of The Bonita Bay Group and Bernard Lester, who retired as president and chief executive officer of Alico, Inc.
The purpose of the FGCU Foundation is to support the educational mission of the University. The FGCU Foundation encourages, solicits, receives and administers gifts for scientific, educational and charitable purposes, all for the advancement of the University.
