FGCU Small Business Development Center to Host "BoomerPreneurs" Workshop, Aug. 13, 20
8/3/2010

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University Small Business Development Center hosts "BoomerPreneurs: How Baby Boomers Can Start Their Own Business, Make Money and Enjoy Life" workshop to assist the mature entrepreneur, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13 and Aug. 20 at Lutgert Hall, Room 1204 in the Lutgert College of Business.

Starting a business at 50-plus years of age is similar, yet different than doing so in one's younger years. The workshop is based on a book by M.B. Izard, and is specifically written to address these differences.

"More and more we are seeing clients who are retired or have to go back to work due to the economic environment," said Suzanne Specht, assistant director of the SBDC. "This workshop is designed to help prepare them strategically through the entrepreneurial planning process for today’s business climate."

Steps include evaluating a current business idea or identifying a new one, determining the match of the business to personal goals and the marketplace, and obtaining market feedback on their business. Participants answer key questions and worksheets to map their own exciting entrepreneurial journey and plan the launch of their business.

Cost to attend the two part series is $49 and must be pre-paid. For more information visit www.sbdcseminars.org, or call the main office at (239) 745-3700, to make a reservation.

For additional information contact Specht at (239)745-3704 or sspecht@fgcu.edu.
