Veteran's Park Academy Team Wins Florida Brain Bowl Competition Sponsored by FGCU Outreach Program

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University's Scholars Program recently announced Veteran's Park Academy for the Arts' Brain Bowl Team won the Florida regional competition in Miami on January 29. To qualify for regional competition, the team first won the local Brain Bowl contest sponsored by Florida Gulf Coast University on October 23.

The team will now compete at the Florida Education Fund's 2010-2011 History and Culture Brain Bowl State Competition in Orlando on March 25. Each member of the winning team in the state competition will receive a full scholarship to a Florida public college or university. The members of the team who place second and third in the state competition will receive partial scholarships toward their college or university education.

The opportunity for teams to participate in the Florida Brain Bowl Competition was provided by the Florida Gulf Coast University Outreach Programs. These programs work with College Reach Out Program coordinators and Scholars advisors in the five-county area providing opportunities for at-risk students to visit the University and participate in programs such as the Brain Bowl.
