Over 60 Middle and High Schools Head to FGCU for the 10th Annual Invitational Mathematics Competition Dec. 5
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University hosts the 10th annual FGCU Mathematics Competition for over 1,300 statewide middle and high school students 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5 beginning in Whitaker Hall.
FGCU will host over 60 of the top academic schools from all over the state of Florida. The contest has grown to be the largest mathematics contest in the state.
Participation is open to all middle school, junior high school and senior high school students and is divided into six divisions: algebra I, algebra II, geometry, statistics, pre-calculus and calculus. Students can participate in individual and team rounds for each division. A special section in chemistry will also be offered as enrichment to the program.
There will be prizes for the top 12 finishers in each of the seven individual subject tests. The top eight teams will receive team trophies, and there will be sweepstakes trophies for the top six schools and door prizes. An answer guide to each exam will be provided to each coach at the conclusion of the testing.
The top finisher in each of the seven individual subject tests will receive a full tuition scholarship to FGCU.
