FGCU Hosts "The Tournees Festival"
Featuring a variety of Francophone films
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Department of Language and Literature at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) will host its second Tournees French Film Festival featuring a variety of Francophone movies throughout February at the Sugden Welcome Center Theater, Room 108. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets required, but seating is limited.
Thursday, Feb. 7, 6 p.m. - Opening reception starts at 5 p.m. sponsored by FGCU French Club. Potiche (Trophy Wife) by Francois Ozon (2010).
Sunday, Feb. 10, 4 p.m. - Les Hommes Libres (Free Men) by Ismael Ferroukhi (2011). Screening sponsored by the Center for Judaic, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies, with introductory lecture by Paul Bartrop, FGCU professor of history and director of the Center for Judaic, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies.
Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2:30 p.m. - Les Herbes Folles (Wild Grass) by Alain Resnais (2008). Introductory lecture by Farshad Aminian, FGCU assistant professor in the Department of Communication and Philosophy.
Thursday, Feb. 21, 6 p.m. - Les Contes De La Nuit (Tales of the Night) by Michel Ocelot (2011).
Thursday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m. - Les Femmes Du 6eme Etage (The Women on the 6th Floor) by Philippe Le Guay (2010).
Support for the Tournees Festival is provided by Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States, Centre National de la Cinématographie et L'Image Animee, Campus France, Florence Gould Foundation, and Highbrow Entertainment.
