FGCU Small Business Development Center to Host Free Lunch and Intellectual Property Seminar, June 20 at Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a two-hour, free intellectual property seminar with lunch 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20 at the Greater Naples Area Chamber of Commerce located at 2390 Tamiami Trail, in Naples.

The featured guest speaker is Katherine H. McGuire, a registered patent attorney and a partner at Woods Oviatt Gilman, LLP in Rochester, New York.
McGuire's presentation will define intellectual property, and how to apply it to the success of a business. She will also provide commentary on the new America Invents Act, and the changes that it has introduced to existing United States patent laws.
McGuire oversees the Business and Finance Department, and is chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. She concentrates her practice on negotiating and preparing agreements relating to intellectual property including IP license, technical service, confidentiality and consulting agreements and mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. Prior to joining Woods Oviatt Gilman, she was a senior patent counsel at Bausch and Lomb Inc. She has experience in all aspects of U.S. and foreign patent procurement, infringement and validity analysis with emphasis in mechanical arts.
