FGCU Renaissance Academy Announces 2014 Chinese Art & History Lecture Series
"China: The Center of Asian Culture"
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Renaissance Academy of Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) announces the launch of its 2014 Chinese Art & History Lecture Series with a lecture by John Guy, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, titled "Early Southeast Asia and its Global Interactions" 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Academy’s 1010 5th Avenue South, Naples location.
This lecture series features nationally recognized speakers on Chinese art and history, and includes seven lectures and a film presentation Tuesdays between Jan. 14 and March 4 at 10:30 a.m. Other speakers in the series include Marjorie Williams, The Cleveland Museum of Art, Nancy Steinhardt, University of Pennsylvania, Nancy Tingley, an independent scholar, Nancy Berliner, Boston Museum of Arts, Robert Mowry, Harvard University, and Britta Erickson, an independent scholar. Among the Renaissance Academy's offerings are affordable, non-credit single lectures, short courses, day trips, computer classes, film series, life enrichment classes, writing workshops, travel abroad programs and other special events. There are no exams or grades, just learning for the joy of learning with friends, neighbors and peers. Course fees are typically $25 or less per lecture, and provide access to Academy programs at locations throughout Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties.
