FGCU Office of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Invites the Public to Community Engagement Day on April 11
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Office of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement is hosting its Fourth Annual Community Engagement Day on Friday, April 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Alico Arena, to showcase the "best of the best" community-based service projects completed by FGCU students over the past year.
Students will display their collaborative and creative projects in a poster presentation format and share with attendees and judges the objective and the outcome of their project as well as reflect on what they learned from the experience. More than 300 students will present their work with over 60 non-profit and governmental community partners.
The event will kick-off with a "Welcome Address" from Director of Community Engagement Jessica Rhea and Dean of Undergraduate Studies Jim Wohlpart. Keynote speakers (Catherine Gorman, recent FGCU alum, and Claire Gorman, FGCU senior) will follow with a presentation on their successful and sustainable service project, "St. Baldrick's Day." The event will culminate with an award ceremony led by FGCU President Wilson Bradshaw to recognize exemplary service.
