The Art Galleries at FGCU Presents Senior Project and FGCU Design Club Exhibits on April 24
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Art Galleries at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) presents "Finals: Spring 2014 Senior Project Exhibition," with an opening reception 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at the Main Gallery in the Arts Complex. Each student will give a brief presentation on their exhibition beginning at 7 p.m. The show runs through May 10.
At the end of their studies, each art major completes a senior project in which he or she successfully executes a body of work combining their knowledge of techniques and concepts while drawing on research of historical and contemporary artists. The completed projects are presented in an exhibition open to the University community and the public. Andy Owen, associate professor of art, is the faculty mentor for this group of graduates.
Senior Project students and corresponding titles this semester are:
Jessica Dehen - "Contemplation"
Kate Dupre - "I want to Ride My Bicycle"

The Art Gallery is located inside the Arts Complex on FGCU main campus. Following the opening day, the Gallery will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Thursday until 8 p.m.
The FGCU Design Club will be opening their exhibit, "Design:Love," in the FGCU ArtLab the same evening. This exhibition is a showcase of work from members of the newly formed FGCU Design Club, a platform for all levels of student-produced design from introduction to advanced. Design Club students come from a variety of majors at FGCU and this show reflects the cross-disciplinary nature and mission of the club. Works in this show originate from projects created from within the Digital Media Design curriculum, as well as projects produced for professional clients and experimental design works.
The ArtLab will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ArtLab is located on the west end of FGCU's Library.
