During the last two weeks in July, selected student teachers will be given an opportunity to apply their newly learned teaching skills. Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 2:30, FGCU students and Seminole aides teach elementary children basic reading and math skills in Emahakv Vpelofv [Teaching Hammock or Summer Enrichment Program] at Brighton Reservation in Glades County.

Student teachers are provided reservation housing and an opportunity to learn more about Seminole culture. The teaching experience involves learning about peer mentoring techniques and Native learning styles. Students receive cultural training prior to the field experience. All teachers receive a stipend.

Interviews for the positions will be held during April.
