Advising Transition Criteria

Understanding the Advising Transition Process, Criteria and Milestones

The process of the advising "transition" refers to a formal shift in who advises students that are just starting on their academic journey from their second year of enrollment through graduation. Students transition from being advised by First Year Advising to being advised by advisors in the college that houses their major:

College Advising Transition Criteria 2023-2024

ALL of the criteria listed MUST be met before you are eligible to transition to college advising. Eligibility is assessed at the conclusion of each semester. Transition information is forwarded via Eagle Email when you are eligible. Please note that the failure to meet milestones in a timely manner may render you ineligible to continue in a particular major. In these cases, you will work with Exploratory Advising to identify an alternate major to complete at FGCU.

Please note that the GPAs listed for this college are the minimum to transition to college advising. Your admission to the upper level courses will likely require a higher GPA. All course attempts are calculated into the GPAs considered for admission to the upper level courses.

Course repeats may cause you to be ineligible for your desired major: BSC 1085C and BSC 1086C have a maximum of two (2) attempts (a course withdrawal – W – counts as an attempt). All other pre-requisite courses have a maximum of three (3) attempts.
