Supplemental Instruction

Enhance your learning in select courses

Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides regularly scheduled review sessions open to all students who want to improve their understanding of course material — and their grades.

By attending SI sessions you will have the opportunity to discuss important concepts, develop learning and study strategies and to test yourself before the professor does. An FGCU student who has earned at least a B+ in the course guides the peer-assisted study sessions.

Why should I use Supplemental Instruction?

Students who regularly attend SI sessions may earn up to one-half letter grade higher and are less likely to earn a D or F in the course than those who do not attend SI sessions or attend less frequently. You will also develop a better understanding of course content as well as more effective ways in which to learn the material. The college-level study skills that you learn in SI will help you earn higher grades in your other classes. Through SI, you will create a community with classmates and other students and feel a stronger connection to FGCU.
