The post-baccalaureate certificate program in Instructional Technology is intended for students not seeking a masters' degree but who wish to advance their knowledge of instructional technology. It is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to become entry-level instructional technologists including developing skills for the creation of educational digital media products. Students with this certificate typically work in learning environments such as education (PK-12, higher education) informal (museums/libraries) or industry (training). The certificate is designed to be completed in three semesters. Students may begin the certificate in the fall, spring, or summer semester. Coursework may be applied towards the Instructional Design & Ed Tech (IDET) M.A. degree. This program is composed of 18 credits of focused courses that may also qualify certificate holders to teach instructional technology courses at the undergraduate level.

Program Admission Requirements
  1. Submission of a FGCU Post-Baccalaureate Non-Degree Application to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
  2. A grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 credits attempted accruing to the undergraduate degree.
  3. Baccalaureate degree or higher from an institution that maintains accreditation by a U.S. Department of Education sanctioned accrediting body (https://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html) or equivalent foreign institution, as documented by official transcripts.
  4. International graduate applicants are required to submit a TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) or 79 (internet-based test) or IELTS exam (minimum score of 6.5).
Program Progression and Additional Graduation Requirements
  • Students must satisfactorily complete the minimum number of credit hours specified by the certificate program.
  • A grade of B or higher must be earned in all College of Education graduate courses used as prerequisites and each required course.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all coursework in the program.
