2018-2019 Catalog Year

Welcome to Florida Gulf Coast University's online academic Catalog.

The information contained in this Catalog is intended for informational purposes.  The Catalog is not a contract, either expressed or implied, between the University and the student.  Instead, the Catalog represents a flexible program of the current curriculum, educational plans, offerings, and requirements that may be altered from time to time to carry out the academic, administrative, and procedural purposes of the University.  The University specifically reserves the right to change, delete, or add to any provision, offering, academic curriculum, or requirement at any time within the student's period of study at the University.

The Catalog references Florida statutes; regulations of the Florida Board of Governors; policies and regulations of the FGCU Board of Trustees and the University; and other state, federal, accreditation, and professional guidelines.  The current Catalog may not reference the most recent requirements because the timeline for promulgation of requirements may not coincide with publication of the University's Catalog.  In these situations, current requirements should be applied when following this Catalog.  Typically, new policies and requirements take effect in the fall term of the year.  Catalogs from previous academic years should be used for historical reference only as the content may no longer be applicable.

This Catalog may be obtained in an alternative format by contacting the Office of Adaptive Services at (239) 590-7956. If you are hearing- or speech-impaired, call the appropriate FGCU office via the Florida Relay at 711 (TTY, VCO, HCO, ASCII or Speech-to-Speech).

Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (at http://www.sacscoc.org) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees. However, inquiries concerning FGCU with regard to admission requirements, financial aid, educational programs, etc., should be addressed to FGCU directly and not to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The Commission should be contacted only in the instance there is evidence of significant non-compliance with a SACSCOC requirement or standard.
